GIGL Royal Parks Officer

Initially a 6 month contract with the possibility of extension.
£21,500 per annum

Greenspace Information for Greater London (GiGL) is the capital’s open space and biodiversity records centre that collects, manages and makes available detailed information on London’s wildlife, parks, nature reserves, gardens and other open spaces.


GiGL has agreements with all of its partners to deliver work on their behalf, and needs a full-time officer to continue the development and management of the Royal Parks’ biodiversity data holdings and management systems. The role involves liaising with a range of organisations and individuals, including the Royal Parks staff, individual recorders, volunteer groups, the general public and other key organisations.


This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is IT literate (Microsoft Office suite), a confident user of Recorder 2002 and GIS with a keen eye for detail, to gain experience in working for a biodiversity records centre. Good administrative, organisational and time management skills are also essential requirements of the post.

You will be working with local recorders and groups to add information to databases and GIS, you will be a knowledgeable user of the Centre’s information system and help to develop it to serve local experts as well as the general public.


You will have a relevant recognised professional qualification or a degree, experience in ecological information management and have experience of using relevant databases and GIS.
