Rollout of NBN Gateway Version 5
Version 5 of the NBN Gateway has now been released at http://staging.testnbn.net/
If you are a data provider and have changed the level of public access to any of your datasets, these changes have now come into effect. However, please note that some of the enhanced functionality of the new Gateway will not be ‘switched on’ until the new year. This is to enable us to carry out final testing and to produce user guides explaining the new features. It will also give you a chance to familiarise yourself with the new access controls and download functionality before they go live – a link will be posted to a demonstration prototype next year.
The following functionality is now available:
- Interactive Map Tool
- This will be the new Interactive Map. The old interactive map will remain accessible on a separate site (see below) until the new Interactive Map has all the functionality of the old map.
- Grid Map Report
- With ‘download squares’ function
- Site Report
- With ‘download species list’ function
- Grid square Report
- List of species for 10km square
- Species Site List Report
- Taxonomy Search and new Taxonomy landing page
- Designation Lists and details
- Register new users
The advanced functionality that was developed in consultation with data providers and users, will be released in the new year. This will include the new tools for requesting and granting enhanced access and for downloading data. The current NBN Gateway
The current NBN Gateway will remain accessible and in a functional state but with the access controls frozen so it will not be possible to request or grant access to data on the ‘old’ Gateway – access levels will remain as they were at the last data upload on 26th November.
Web services
Web services will continue to be run from the current ‘Gateway, but will be gradually migrated to Gateway Version 5 in the new year by the technical team. Web Service users will not notice any change in performance and do not need to take any action.
Data loading
Data loading will recommence in January, with new and updated datasets being loaded onto Gateway Version 5. No new data will be loaded onto the current Gateway.
