Improving data flow and data exchange
One of the key project areas under the NBN Trust’s contract with Defra is improving data flow and data exchange between local and national data providers, and incorporating NBN Gateway data into local planning and land management decisions.
One of the outputs from this is the production of guidance on biodiversity data services and statutory requirements.
The first of the LERC documents funded under the 2011-2014 Defra contract to promote the local use of biodiversity data and raise awareness of legislation and policy relating to biodiversity data use, has now been published. Eight LERCs in the East of England have worked together to produce the document which can be downloaded here.
The eight LERCs involved in this project are:
- Lincolnshire Environmental Records Centre
- Norfolk Biodiversity Information Service
- Northamptonshire Biodiversity Records Centre
- Bedfordshire and Luton Biodiversity Recording and Monitoring Centre
- Hertfordshire Biological Records Centre
- Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Environmental Records Centre
- Biological Records In Essex
- Suffolk Biological Records Centre
More documents will be published in the near future by other LERCs.
The first advocacy document which was produced under a separate contract by LERCs in the North West of England can be viewed here and more information on the project can be found here.
