Opportunities for working with Natural England

Invitation to Tender for Biological Recording in the Voluntary Sector (Project 2)

This tender relates to developing the skills and capacity within the volunteer recording community (274) and has been added to Natural England’s internet e-sourcing pages (once the page opens select ‘view Natural England’s current opportunities’).

Natural England are looking for a single contractor (which could comprise a group of suppliers) to lead this nationally and provide training across a range of taxa. This is the second of four projects and NE aims to advertise project 3 (as an invitation to tender) this summer and Project 4 (as a grant) later this autumn. The total value of the NE administered Defra fund is c £400k, which includes NE staff costs and spend on a grant in 11/12 earlier this year. If applicants have queries these should be directed to the procurement adviser Christine Innes before 19th July. The contract is for nearly two years ending in March 2014.

Closing date for tenders is noon on 26th July 2012 (the listing date given (19/7/12) is the date by which applicants will need to be registered).

The objective of this project is to develop the skills and capacity within the volunteer recording community by establishing cost-effective and sustainable ways of delivering a better service to volunteer recorders through direct and on-line training provision.  This is aimed at providing a more strategic approach to deliver skills training to new and existing recorders leading to sustained recording by volunteers.

Tenders for Project 1 are now closed
