Creation of an NBN Gateway User Group

The NBN Trust is in the process of establishing an NBN Gateway User Group. The purpose of this group is to represent the requirements of NBN Gateway data providers and data users and to help improve user experiences. Group members will have a leadership role in NBN Gateway user interface reviews and needs analysis and they will also have to come up with a better acronym for themselves than GUG!

User group members will:

1.   Help improve communication about the NBN Gateway to a wider community of data providers and users;
2.   Provide input to ongoing development and improvement of the NBN Gateway;
3.   Develop, share and expand the NBN Toolbox idea of resources for loading, downloading and visualising biological data and information.
4.   Help test NBN Gateway functionality including new developments (before being released to the public);
5.   Act as an early warning system for outages, breakages and errors and report issues;
6.   Act as 'expert' advisors to assist with forum discussions.

The NBN Trust is seeking people to be part of this group that would class themselves as heavy users of the NBN Gateway either as a data provider or data user or both. We are also looking for people who like being part of a team, have a creative streak, are keen on finding solutions and want to support the development of the NBN over the coming years.

Group members will be appointed by the NBN Trust for an initial period of one year with the aim to represent the full diversity of the NBN (including local record centres, non-governmental organisations, national schemes and societies, ecological consultants, government agencies and researchers). The group will be virtual which means there will be no meetings during the year although it is anticipated that an annual get together would be part of the programme and held adjacent to the NBN conference. If you would like to be part of the NBN Gateway User Group, or would like to ask questions about the role, please contact the NBN
