THE NBN LEARNING ZONE

Welcome to the NBN learning zone... where we bring you all the information you need to create your own personalised NBN Guidebook. This section of our website arms you with practical information about the NBN and how to get involved. Each page can be added to your very own custom made document. To add any page you wish to keep for future reference just click on ‘add page to my PDF portfolio’ in the PDF basket section to the bottom left of every page. When you have finished adding pages you can arrange the pages as you like and then save the end product as a document to your PC.

There are four guidebooks:

THE DATA GUIDEBOOK

Use this guide if you are interested in how to share data within the Network. The guide is in five sections:

An introduction to sharing data – if you are unfamiliar with how the NBN shares information then this section is for you
How to share your data – this is a practical guide for new data providers to get their data prepared and ready for sharing
How to manage your data - This section provides practical advice on how to manage datasets once uploaded to Gateway and provides other practical advice on providing data to others
Learning more about sharing and managing data - This section is for those wanting more detail on policies and laws surrounding sharing data in more detail and on policies, best practice, quality of data and laws surrounding managing data in more detail
Accessing data – This is a practical guide on the different ways of accessing data through the network

THE GATEWAY USERS GUIDEBOOK

If you want to get the most out of the NBN Gateway then this section is for you. It will help you build an understanding of the Gateway, how it operates and the sort of information the Gateway can provide. The guidebook is split into two sections:

An introduction to using the Gateway resources – ideal for anyone wishing to gain a sound understanding of what the Gateway is
A step by step guide on how to use the main Gateway functions – use this if you just want to get stuck in and start using the Gateway

THE BUSINESS GUIDEBOOK

This guidebook offers advice to anyone who collects, collates and manages data on how to build your business. Whether you are a small local recording scheme or a large regional records centre, this section is for you. It offers practical advice on:

Running recording schemes
Running and managing local records centres
Principle seven and finding funding
Training and support
