The University of Oxford is delighted to announce that enrolment is now open for Short-Courses from its Ecological Survey Techniques programme to commence in 2013-14.

These Short-Courses are taught online over five weeks and are led by an experienced ecologist or tutor.  They are designed with professionals and volunteers working in ecology and environmental conservation in mind, and aim to equip students with the skills and training needed to conduct informed field surveys:

•    Field Techniques for Surveying Vegetation starting 18th September 2013
•    Field Techniques for Surveying Mammals and Reptiles starting 8th January 2014
•    Field Techniques for Surveying Birds starting 12th February 2014
•    Field Techniques for Surveying Fish and Amphibians starting 26th March 2014
•    Field Techniques for Surveying Invertebrates starting 30th April 2014
•    Data Analysis in Ecology 30th October 2013 and 5th March 2014

The University is also pleased to announce that its Data Analysis in Ecology module will now run on 30th October 2013 and 5th March 2014.  This course introduces students to the use of QED statistics and R software packages and helps students improve their ability to display ecological data, and to use descriptive and inferential statistics to analyse results from field surveys.

These courses can be taken with or without academic accreditation.  Upon successful completion of an assignment students taking the course with credit gain 10 CATS points at Level 7 which can be used toward Master’s level study; students taking courses without academic credit receive a Certificate of Attendance after successful participation in online study.
